HOPE Ofiriha is very Unique to most NGOs working in South Sudan. HOPE Ofiriha believes that as much money as possible should be spent where the donors intended are needed most – Omilling! Too often, money given to NGO is wasted on administration, cars and very little money actually gets its way to the poor whom donors wish to help most. HOPE Ofiriha is unique.
William Ochieng has given a substantial amount of his money to the NGO, working part-time for free, he flights to South Sudan twice each year, and HOPE Ofiriha has two paid employees in Magwi County who works from the village to save costs. With no office costs, no aggressive marketing, and all printing, newsletters, being produced in-house, we are extremely resourceful with our money and have very low administrative costs.
HOPE Ofiriha is also different in its approach to the local community. HOPE Ofiriha believes in empowering local women to manage the projects which affect their own community, and the NGO only employs women in South Sudan (No paid Europeans who could take a local job). HOPE Ofiriha is big enough that it is making a huge difference in Omilling, but small enough that the NGO remains effective, and efficient. Above all, HOPE Ofiriha is unique because everyone involved is so passionate about what the NGO is doing, and it is this great enthusiasm which makes HOPE Ofiriha the NGO that it is today, and forever.
