Charity Helping South Sudanese Women & Children Rebuilt Their Lives
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Location: Bweya, Wakiso District, Uganda
Monica is an orphan who with the help of her aunt fled to Kampala, Uganda, in 2013 during the height of the civil war. The refugee ended in Bweya slum, where a most significant number of South Sudanese are living in a country. Monica has better exams grades and has a promising future in education. She needs your love and support so that she can go to boarding school, avoid extreme poverty, and realise her dream of becoming a professional football (soccer) player.
When Monica’s parents died in the rebel attacked in South Sudan in 2013, her aunt took in Monica, with her siblings, her biological children and escaped to Uganda, to be refugees. To provide basic needs for a family of 7 and pay school fees, her aunt had been selling the red beans. Her aunt makes little income not enough to cover for house rent, food, and medical care. On October 30th, they were evicted from the home they had been living in since 2013 because her aunt had not paid rent in six months. Monica and her siblings are no longer attending school because their aunt cannot afford to pay school fees. In Uganda, parents or guardians must pay school fees to fund school buildings, books, writing materials, school meals, and uniforms.
Monica needs your love and support, so she can go to boarding school to escape a lifetime cycle of poverty. She dreams of becoming a professional football (soccer) player when she grows up. Your monthly support will pay her school fees; provide her with food, clothes, and medical care; and prevent her from having to work petty jobs during school hours to help support her family.
