Age: 3
Gender: Female
Location: Bulonde, Wakiso District, Uganda
Emmy Korok is a South Sudanese refugee living in absolute poverty in the slum of Bulonde, in an outskirt of Kampala, Uganda. She lacks necessary things, such as toys, shoes, a bed, a net, bed-sheets, blankets and has nearly no clothes. As refugees, Emmy’s sick parents have been unable to find work. Emmy is a beautiful girl with excellent potential. Please sponsor her so that she can go to a day nursery school, have regular nutritious meals, and escape a perpetual cycle of poverty.
Emmy’s parents fled South-South in 2013 at the beginning of the war and settled in Bweyele refugees camp, where she was born. In 2015, her family moved to Bulonde slum, in the outskirt of Kampala, to look for greener pastures. Her parents roamed around the city, begging for employment, but, it is impossible for uneducated, and a refugee to get a decent job.
Despite her parents’ illness, Emmy’s father does odd jobs, to get by, and his wife does local breweries. Even if, Emmy looks healthy, her siblings are malnourished and are not in school. Emmy’s parents make little money not sufficient to pay school fees, let alone house rent, food, and medical care. In Uganda, parents or guardians must pay school fees to fund school buildings, books, writing materials, school meals, and uniforms.
Emmy needs your love and support, so she can go a day nursery school, have regular meals, and escape an endless cycle of poverty.
