Change the Lives of Three Generations

Mary, a 63-year-old widow, sells charcoal to support herself and two of her brother’s grandchildren, and has done so for four years. She lives in poverty as there is no welfare system to help senior citizens in her community.

To provide food and pay rent, Mary has to maintain a business to sustain herself and her dependents. Mary has a difficult time paying medical bills whenever she or her dependents fall ill. Her other major challenge is the high cost of transporting charcoal to her store.

Mary aspires to educate her brother’s grandchildren up to, if possible, university, so that their lives will be better than those of her generation. Education in Uganda, where they live as refugees, is not free.

With her loan, Mary plans to buy 10 bags of charcoal for resale and boost her business. Assisting Mary will help three generations in their struggle to provide for themselves, giving them a way to earn their living and pay back anyone who helps them.

Thanks to our generous supporters, this loan is fully funded!
