Akot is a 49-year-old mother who became a widow ten years ago when she lost her husband, the sole provider for the family. Being a widow with three children opened her eyes to work hard. She started selling local brew called “Marwa” made from white millet in a friend’s bar.
Akot later opened her own bar and expanded the business to selling other beverages to meet the varying demand of her customers. Through this business, she has been able to fund her children’s education (it is not free in Uganda) and also help support her late brother’s children. She also employs four ladies to work alongside her.
Akot is aspiring to expand her business to a sports bar. This will translate into funding her future hopes of seeing all of her children educated and having the basic needs of life: a rental house for them.
Akot is requesting a loan to purchase additional sacks of millet, crates of both hard and soft drinks, television sets, and music systems to provide the best for her customers. With this new loan, her business will be diversified, thus enabling her to make more money and repay her loan, keep her children in school, and save for her future. You can make a difference today by lending Akot from as little as a £10 loan and kick-start a bright entrepreneur’s future for herself and her children.
Thanks to our generous supporters, this loan is fully funded!
