Personal and Family Information
Sudan’s long civil war left Khasfa a partial orphan and her and her family refugees. Her father died when she was a toddler and when her young mother married a second husband, she sent Khasfa to live with her grandparents.
Khasfa’s grandparents cannot afford to pay the school fees for all of their own children still living at home let alone their grandchild. As an educated refugee, her grandfather is barely able to put food on the table working on and off as a carpenter. His income is frequently not enough to cover other necessities, such as house rent, medical care, and clothes. Khasafa’s mother cannot either help because doesn’t have a job and is living hand to mouth with her new husband.
Khasfa is a good student who loves science. She has been educated up to Uganda’s standard 4 (four years of primary education). She needs your assistance, so she can go to boarding school to escape a lifetime cycle of poverty and achieve her dream of becoming a doctor. She lost her scholarship last year and will fall behind if she doesn’t return to school soon. Your monthly support will pay her school fees; provide her with food, clothes, and medical care; and prevent her from having to work petty jobs during school hours to help support her family.
